The Link Between Flexibility and Longevity


One of the four components to a rounded exercise program is stretching. The Exercise Medicine Clinic in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, performed a study to learn if and how flexibility affected longevity.

Researchers tested 3,000 participants over a 28 year period with a follow-up of 12.9 years. They found that people with higher ranges in flexibility tended to live longer than those with lower flexibility ranges.

Stretch Everyday – Consistency Is Key

WHO SHOULD STRETCH. Every adult should stretch.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU STRETCH?  Stretch everyday.  It won’t take you that long. Consistency is key. You’ll see benefits, if you keep up with it.

HOW LONG SHOULD YOU HOLD EACH STRETCH? Stretches are held anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds.  If you’re pressed for time, stretch for 10 seconds.  Something is better, than nothing. Continue reading “Stretching 101”
