Iron Skillet Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 refrigerated 9-inch pie crusts, divided
  • 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place butter in a large cast-iron skillet; place in oven while preheating until melted, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir brown sugar into melted butter; return to oven until bubbling, about 5 minutes.
  3. Gently lay 1 pie crust on top of brown sugar mixture, without pressing down; arrange apple slices on top of crust.
  4. Combine white sugar, cinnamon, and flour in a bowl; sprinkle over apple slices. Place remaining pie crust over apple slices; cut slits in top crust for ventilation. Seal top and bottom crusts together.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until top crust is lightly browned, about 45 minutes.

Vintage TV: Happy Halloween with the Addams Family


The Addams Family was a television series that ran from 1964 to 1966. The gothic theme featured four principal family members. John Astin played the role of Gomez Addams. Carolyn Jones as Morticia, his wife.

Morticia and Gomez had two children. Their daughter Wednesday and their son, Pugsley, played by Lisa Loring and Ken Weatherwax.

Jackie Coogan played Uncle Fester and Blossom Rock as Grandmama Addams. Ted Cassidy played the butler Lurch, whose dialog was primarily grunts and groans.
