INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups cooked lentils drained
- 1- 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
- 1 small onion diced
- 1 green bell pepper diced
- 1 carrot diced
- 1 garlic cloved diced
- 1 tablespoon ground chile powder
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1/2 – 1 teaspoon salt as preferred
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Oil for sautee
INSTRUCTIONS
- Saute onion, pepper, carrot, and garlic over medium heat.
- When soft, add the chile powder, paprika and salt.
- Stir mixture until spices are dissolved (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add lentils and remaining ingredients to mixture. Combine well.
- Allow mixture to simmer over low to medium heat for 20-30 minutes.
- Serve on hamburger bun, or over slices of artisan bread.
