Buckwheat: It’s Not A Grain and It’s Gluten-Free

Buckwheat is not a grain, a cereal or grass, and it’s not related to wheat.  To make things confusing, it is often referred to as a grain.  The term “groat” means the whole grain.  Food packages are sometimes labeled whole

buckwheat groats.  If you’re wheat, or gluten sensitive, cooking with buckwheat allows you to have all the foods you enjoy without the side effects.

Buckwheat looks and acts like a grain.  It’s actually a triangular seed related to rhubarb and sorrel.  It’s a good substitute for wheat, or grains containing gluten.  Buckwheat cooks quickly, and is highly nutritious. Continue reading “Buckwheat: It’s Not A Grain and It’s Gluten-Free”

A Tight Pectoralis Minor May Affect Your Posture

PROTRUDING SHOULDER BLADES

TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR

Look at your back in the mirror.  If your shoulder blades protrude, you might have a shortened (tight) Pectoralis Minor, and a weak Serratus Anterior muscle.

SIT WITH YOUR BACK AGAINST A CHAIR

Sweet Potato Leaves Stir Fry

If you don’t have a wok, you can use a skillet.  I prefer cast iron skillets because they heat up fast, are very sturdy, and cooking time is quicker. Amazon has a wide selection of  Woks and Cast Iron Skillets.

STIR FRY IN A WOK

Sweet Potato Leaves are a very good source of dietary fiber, Vitamin A, K, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Phosphorus, B6, Folate, Magnesium, Potassium, Manganese, and a good source of Vitamin E.  The leaves can be used in place of Spinach.

Long-term use of prednisone, and cortisone may affect your body’s ability to build bone.  Read more about drugs that can cause bone loss in the following articles.
